MacGregor 26 Pocket Cruiser Trailer-Sailer             $5,495

Restless is a fresh-water boat that the donor reluctantly parted with because he could not find enough time to use it. It is in very clean shape inside and out, with a good suit of sails.

MacGregor has made several models of their popular “26.” This boat is the 26D, where the D stands for daggerboard.  The weighted daggerboard can be pulled up to allow the boat to be easily trailered.   Further, this  model introduced water ballast to replace the heavily weighted keel. When the water is drained for trailering, the boat weighs only 1650 lbs, making it even more attractive for towing with a regular automobile.   The 26D, along with its sister boat the 26S, are often called the "classic" MacGregor 26.  Owners of these earlier models tend to refer to them as "the real sailboats" prior to the changes coming with the MacGregor 26X.

You will see in the pictures that the interior of this boat is as roomy as a trailerable sailboat gets. It has a double vee berth in the bow, a settee berth in the main cabin, and in the rear a 6’ by 7’ queen berth, rare in boats of any size!  The large overhead “pop-top” hatch can be raised to provide full standing headroom in the main cabin.

Outside, there is a roomy self-bailing cockpit and a monstrous lazarette (aft storage compartment).  The hinged mast can easily be raised by two people, so all in all this boat provides comfortable trailer-sailing and weekending for the active family.
