Buy a Donated Boat
Designer's Choice 15 with Trailer $1,950
This boat was donated by an individual who sailed it on Mirror Lake New Hampshire, and found he was not using it enough. Both boat and trailer have been very well cared for.
The Designers Choice 15 (DC15) was designed by the notable boat designer Sparkman & Stephens as a sail training and racing boat. Over 1500 were built since 1978.
The DC15 has the roomiest cockpit of any 15-foot boat we have seen! You will see in the pictures that the seats extend the whole length of the boat on both sides. It will easily accommodate up to four people. It is an excellent starter boat and will provide plenty of excitement when the wind picks up.
This boat was built in 1983 and is in ready-to-go sailing condition, with a brand-new main halyard and main sheet, plus a well-maintained Holsclaw trailer.
Here are some comments we found online:
The DC 15 sailboat is a fantastic, unique design with a large cockpit for its size, accommodating 3 adults easily and more children. It’s very rare to have a sailboat in this length and weight which can accommodate a whole family. This forgiving daysailer is easy to rig, launch, and learn on. The freeboard is sufficient to shed waves making this a very dry cockpit. The swing up centerboard and rudder enables shallow water sailing and beach landings. The draft is 3 ft with the board down and only 5 inches with the board up. This boat has similar performance to the Vanguard 15, but with far greater stability. Will plane going upwind.
One person can easily step / un-step the mast. The boat has a self-draining cockpit.
