Classic 2016 COMET with Trailer

Price:  $4,500

The donor of of this boat is an experienced sailor who knew how to take care of a boat, maintained it well and kept it in great shape.

This boat, Comet # 4147, is a pristine example of the classic Comet.  It is true to its original 1932 design, while having all the advantages of fiberglass construction, modern fittings, and lightweight aluminum spars.

The donor pampered it and cared for it, but decided it was time to move on to a bigger boat.   It is a lightweight, fun boat for young and old to enjoy sailing in all conditions.  But if you are ready to race seriously, this boat is beautifully set up for that as well with well-positioned modern fittings and control lines.

This boat is well-suited to trailer-sailing.  It is very easy to launch and set up.   Take it anywhere, and you can be sailing within a half-hour!

The comet class.  Designed in 1932, the fun-to-sail Comet was intended as a smaller version of the STAR keelboat.  That idea proved successful, as over 4100 boats have been built to date.

The Comet class has survived the roulette of classes that come and go. No longer considered a high-performance boat in today's high-tech world, it now attracts sailors because of its steady sailing characteristics, good looks, and the availability of well-built boats that have stood the test of time.  Now considered a classic, it attracts sailors who appreciate its history and the performance designed by C. Lowndes Johnson 91 years ago.
