This is a 1977 boat that is much newer than its age in all respects!

It was purchased new at Fay’s Boatyard in Gilford NH, and has been there, sailed on fresh water, for all but one year of its life!  Blueberry Pie's prior owners have been real sailors and fastidious boat owners.  The donors owned her for 5 years and have decided to move on in their lives.

Unlike many other used boats, which may get stripped before selling, the donors left EVERYTHING on board!  Dock lines, fenders, lifejackets, and dozens of gizmos, pieces, and parts.

The hull has never been painted! It is rare to see a boat of this age, especially a blue one, with the original gelcoat in such good shape.  The owners have worked hard keeping it shiny!

The exterior brightwork has been replaced or stripped and re-varnished.  The interior has been well maintained, and you can see in the pics that it is very clean .

The 150% genoa and full battened mainsail are nine years old and in very good shape as you can see in the in the under-sail picture.  There is also an older asymmetrical spinnaker, but it has seen much less use, so it is still in very good condition.

The boat comes with a custom winter cover, worth over $2000 new.  After a while, with your annual shrink wrap savings, you will recover the cost of the boat!!

In the five years the donors owned and cared for this boat they invested in a number of significant improvements, including:

  • All new instruments.

  • A “Stack Pack” mainsail furling and cover system that takes all the work out of furling and raising the mainsail.

  • A new wraparound stainless stern rail, with easy access to the cockpit from the swim ladder.

  • A new high tech HDPE rudder.

Please note, for your protection we will GUARANTEE that the motor is operational before you take the boat.

THE CATALINA 27

The Catalina 27 is an American classic. First launched in 1971, more than 6,600 boats were built during a 20-year production run, making it possibly the best-selling 27-footer of all time. Frank Butler, the 27's co-designer, as well as the founder and driving force behind Catalina Yachts, had an uncanny knack for creating boats that people love and they show their love with their checkbooks. Catalina has built more than 60,000 boats, more than any other American sailboat company.

The Catalina 27’s popularity comes not only from its excellent sailing qualities, but it’s roominess. This boat is as roomy as most any 27 foot boat you will find, with 6’1” headroom, a spacious main cabin with galley, an enclosed head, and sleeping accommodations for five.  It also has the widest companionway opening you will ever see on a boat this size. You can only appreciate that after squeezing down the companionway stairs on other boats!

In many ways, the 27 was the model for a design and construction philosophy that continues to serve Catalina today. It is a simple but successful formula: build stylish but definitely affordable boats with semi-modern hull shapes and high-volume interiors. Catalina builds its boats efficiently, which is often viewed as a sin by other builders that secretly envy the company's huge production runs. Catalina knows its customers and what they want. The company has an impressive ratio of repeat buyers, which is the ultimate compliment for any builder.

By the same token, used boat buyers also know what they're getting with the Catalina 27. It's a spacious, user-friendly family cruiser. A PHRF rating of around 210 means that it can be raced competitively on Wednesday nights or in active one-design fleets, although racing is not its forte. It is an ideal boat for the way most of us use our boats, that is daysailing and weekend outings.
