This boat is an unusual find in several respects. It is a two-owner boat, but the first owner only used it for a year before selling it to the donor, who has used it as a family vacation and weekend condo ever since. The boat has been on Lake Winnipesaukee its entire life; it has never seen a drop of salt water! When you step aboard you will immediately see the care that this boat is received from its owner over the years! The donor is retiring from boating and has reluctantly parted with his pride and joy.
The Avanti Vee 296 is a beamy and comfortable family express cruiser with an upscale feel. Her Jim Wynne design includes a modified-V prop-pocket hull with solid fiberglass construction. Her interior is somewhat unusual in that the dinette is placed aft in the salon, beneath the raised helm. An offset double berth is fitted into the forward stateroom (with a draw curtain for privacy), and with the dinette converted the Avanti Vee provides berths for four adults. A distinguishing feature of the 296 is her positive foam flotation—a genuine rarity in a boat this size.
The helm features an extra-wide seat, and visibility from the elevated helm position is excellent. The roomy cockpit has a large rear bench seat and is large enough for several pieces of deck furniture. There is a walk-through in the transom, and a sturdy radar arch. Additional features include better-than-average storage, a well-arranged galley, and easy access to the engines. Twin 270hp Crusader engines provide a cruising speed of 19–20 knots and a top speed of around 30 knots.

Cruisers Inc. (today called Cruisers yachts) has a reputation for producing comfortable, well-built boats, and the Avanti 296 is an example of that. This is a seaworthy and comfortable boat that could be used anywhere!
